Anxiety and Stress–in You!

I’m a mother of three special kids who are teens. I am needing some natural remedies for stress/ profuse anxiety and insomnia.. What do you suggest?–Iris in LA

Our Mommy MD Guide’s reply: It sounds like you’ve got a lot going on! Being a mother of teens is a big challenge all by itself, and peri-menopausal symptoms make everything even more challenging. Your symptoms of insomnia, accelerated pulse and anxiety warrant a visit to your physician. Sometimes we attribute symptoms like these to stress, when in fact there’s something more going on. Especially if you’re peri-menopausal, it would  be a great idea to have a physical exam and get some blood work done. Your doctor might want to check your thyroid function, since an overactive thyroid gland can produce the symptoms you’ve described.

If your doctor finds that indeed, stress and perimenopause are responsible for the feelings of anxiety, insomnia, and faster heart rate, you might like a product that I’ve found very helpful for similar symptoms, called Natural Calm. Natural Calm is a natural supplement that’s rich in magnesium, and magnesium has a wonderful calming and relaxing effect. It also helps with muscle aches and pains, headaches, and constipation. Natural Calm comes in a powder that you add to a cup of warm water and drink like a tea. It has a nice, tart fruit taste, so you don’t have to take any giant pills or capsules.

While you’re busy taking care of everyone else in your family, don’t forget to take time to take care of yourself!
