An Interview with Dr. Liu
What’s your favorite parenting tip? Sleep when your baby sleeps.
What has surprised you most about parenting? That I didn’t mind losing sleep. When something else wakes me in the middle of the night, I get resentful. But when my baby woke me up, I didn’t mind getting up for her.
How do you get your kids to eat healthy food? When my girls were babies, I offered them a great variety of healthy foods. Now that they’re older, they eat what we eat. We always have healthy snacks, like fruit and nuts, on hand.
How do you work exercise into your family’s life? You don’t have to work to get a four-year-old to exercise; they go go go go go! My older daughter is seven, and she just started jogging with me. We run, and sometimes we walk, and other times we skip. It’s a lot of fun.
How do you recharge your batteries? The past few months, I’ve made a huge effort to get myself to bed early and get enough sleep. I also try to make sure I drink enough water through out the day. Small victories like that really add up.
