An Interview with Dr. Lemay
What’s your favorite parenting tip? Let your little kids wear pajamas all day, every day! Less changing, less laundry, and why not?
What has surprised you most about parenting? The idea that I could ever have twins never entered my mind until the moment I found out I was having them! Surprise! Watching my older son care for them and watching the incomparable bond they have has been the most rewarding parenting adventure.
How do you get your kids to eat healthy food? In general, we only keep healthy foods in the house, so it’s all they could eat anyway. Of course, there is some ice cream in there every now and then… and chicken nuggets… and maybe last night we ate french toast for dinner. But luckily, they all like some healthy foods- even if it’s still-frozen peas or plain flavorless cubes of tofu.
How do you work exercise into your family’s life? We play outside as much as possible and joined a gym with childcare.
How do you recharge your batteries? Child-free exercise time has become a huge stress-reliever for me. When you just need an hour to yourself to listen to a podcast or music that is not a Disney soundtrack, letting your kids play in the gym daycare and hopping on the treadmill is amazing. A cocktail with my husband after the kids are asleep also helps!
