Ashley Morgan

Ashley is a mom of two and the owner of Ashley Morgan Designs.

How many children do you have?  I have two beautiful daughters. Noa is almost three, and Sarai is two months old. They keep me on my toes and always entertained.

How did you come up with the idea for your company?  I decided to start my own business about five years ago. I loved the idea of creating a career for myself based on my passion and skills. While in college, I studied international business, and later I got a masters symposium in goldsmithing. I love being able to create jewelry from things that inspire me everyday. My career rewards me on a professional and personal level. I love being able to design jewelry and work as an artist and, at the same time, have the flexibility of owning my own business to spend time with my family. Today, my jewelry is designed with the “modern” woman in mind, and wearable at any occasion—a day in the park or a night out in the town. My designs have an approachable elegance to them that is very appealing to a modern-day woman.

What’s your favorite parenting tip?  Let kids explore and be themselves and be creative everyday. As an artist, I think creating art is essential and helps kids develop and gain confidence. Noa surprises me with her creativity.

How do you get your family to eat healthy food and/or exercise?  Living in Marin, it is easy to stress the healthy lifestyle. We go to farmer’s markets several times a week. I think it helps Noa understand where food comes from and gets her excited about trying new fruits and vegetables. This spring we planted a garden at home. Noa is responsible for it and she loves it. We planted food that she loves, including edible flowers, and now she gets so excited when we eat dinner from her garden.

How do you recharge your batteries?  By taking advantage of Nature. As a family, we love the outdoors. We live in close proximity to hiking trails and beaches and endless natural beauty. A perfect day is a nice family hike followed by a picnic on the beach. I also try to sneak out at least one a month for a yoga class. I love the peaceful silence of yoga.
